Microsoft Office is one of the best software systems on the market. It is flexible and professional in a way that a lot of other competitors aren't. However, there is one major flaw with the system and that is that users buy Microsoft Office and then a year later it is already outdated. Office 365 sets out to solve that problem. Office 365 is a subscription-based model of Microsoft Office where users pay a monthly subscription fee to have access to various pieces of constantly updating software as well as online access to the software on-the-go.

Just like with any Microsoft Office software package, Office 365 comes with the standard Word, Powerpoint, and Excel, but unlike its predecessor it also comes with Outlook, OneDrive and Skype. Outlook is Microsoft's email tool and OneDrive is its cloud-based storage and sharing system. Office 365 users will gain free access to one terabyte of storage space. Office 365 can be accessed on up to five devices, including phones and tablets as well as various computers. While five devices sounds like a lot, it can be quite restrictive depending on how many devices a given person has.

Office 365 is available for Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10. It also runs on Mac operating systems. It is offered in English, Italian, Polish, Dutch, Spanish, German, French, Japanese, and Portuguese. While the price range many vary depending on package and location, the average monthly subscription package ranges from $5-$30 depending on which package the user selects.

Overall, Office 365 is worth the value for those who frequently use Microsoft Office and who like to stay up on the cutting edge of software. The cloud storage and access to documents from different devices is great and is a step forward towards modernization for Microsoft. That being said, with so many subscription services out there, adding another one like Microsoft Office is really for the heavy users. That being said, those who love and frequently buy the new versions of the software should consider Office 365 as in the long run it does save money. It is especially good for students, professionals, and work-from-home freelancers. As with many things related to Microsoft, Office lives up to the price tag for those who use it often.
